God assists us in discerning the kairos-a moment of grace. 11 Corinthians 6:1-2 - Kairos is not just crisis but opportunity and favour. It calls for action, conversion and transformation-a change of life. I didn’t need to know how I was going to maneuver this unfamiliar road, but I knew that I knew that I knew, I had to. My 23 year old son was in the forefront of my mind. I said, “In the immediate after math of that shocking incident, I knew without a doubt I had to decide what my road was going to be about. I thought for a few seconds and replied, “When I suddenly lost my husband. With that being said someone asked me at a recent book signing event what my biggest Kairos Moment was. He is present in ALL things and there for us to call on. Nor are they always “a dream come true event.” What we must do is see the moment as an “opportunity and fitting time” that God is in the center of. They are not always something pleasant that we step into. I think it’s so important to understand how God packages a Kairos Moment. You can research the Greek words Kairos and Kronos for expanded definitions if you would like to. That’s the Greek word where you engage your calendar of choice and schedule the event. Now if you want to “know” what time something is going to happen you will use Kronos time. He is the only one who knows about Kairos Moments. To be more personal, is this a ‘kairos’ moment for me and Columbia International University. In the New Testament kairos means 'the appointed time in the purpose of God', the time when God acts (e.g. I think God simply wants us to meet up with Him in what suddenly occurs. Kairos () is an ancient Greek word meaning the right or opportune moment (the supreme moment). Knowing future events isn’t going to happen. There have been many kairos moments and seasons throughout church history that have tremendously altered the course of time itself. It can be a moment, or it can be an entire season of moments. How could we live if we knew E V E R Y T H I N G that was going to happen? Take a moment and consider that question. Kairos is the moment of decision, the moment of action, the moment of change. Something like, “Hey, Denise, there’s a Kairos Moment coming tomorrow at 8:17 am! And it’s going to be incredibly exciting!” Or “Denise, there’s going to be a Kairos Moment tomorrow at 4:20 pm and it’s going to be difficult to get through.” Prepare for my response to whether it was going to be pleasant or difficult. I would like that a prior blast of noise came before hand so I could prepare. Kairos Moments those moments of opportunity come big and small…….all day long.
